When printers have not been in use for a couple of months, the ink in the cartridges gets clogged. You do not need to spend a lot of money to fix the problem; an ink cartridge can be unclogged easily by the user right at home. Here is how:

  1. Unplug your printer to prevent any physical injury.

  2. Lift the lid of the printer to expose the cartridges.

  3. Loosen the cartridge from its slot and remove it from the printer.

  4. Turn the hot water on over the sink. This method may not work for all cartridges but works if they have a solid plastic encasing, like the 123 Inkjets Brother ink cartridges.

  1. Immerse the cartridge in hot water allowing. Ensure the minute openings through which the ink can be refilled are kept above water surface.

  2. The ink might begin to squirt out of the cartridge; this is a good sign, let it be. However, if it comes out the moment you place it under the water, this is a sign that the ink clogged pretty terribly. A less clogged cartridge will squirt the ink in no less than fifteen minutes.

  3. Once it has been left in the water a while, take it out, dry it off and secure it back.

This is an easy and quick way to fix your cartridge and get your printer running again.
